The Hydro-Safe HSRL-61 Replacement UVC Light Bulb is 4 pin stepped on a single end light bulb. The 65 Watt germicidal water treatment bulb uses UVC technology to destroy bacteria, molds, viruses, yeast, and protozoa present in the water. It emits a short wavelength of 253.7nm that acts on the genetics of the microorganisms and makes them harmless. The light bulb comes with a ceramic base material set in non-ozone glass type. The replacement bulb from CureUV is highly compatible with germicidal OEM air, water disinfection filter, UV sanitizer, and ultraviolet purifiers.

Since the light bulbs are intended to destroy microorganisms it is necessary to schedule the replacement of the bulbs annually to ensure the system's efficiency. These high-quality lamps are made in the USA and can last for approximately 10,000 working hours after which the UV output reduces though the UV lamp may continue to emit bright light. The replacement UVC lamp reacts with the genetics of microorganisms such as spores, viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens.

Do I need shatterproof coating?

Although shatterproof coating can lower the intensity of the UV-C bulb by as much as 15%, it is recommended for applications in which it is crucial to avoid potential glass breakage at all costs. These applications include but are not limited to food processing and medical institutions. However, if glass breakage would be inconvenient but not catastrophic, skipping the costly shatterproof coating is quite alright. After all, we do not use shatterproof coating with our glasses and plates at home.
