The Samkun Century - SKPM-SMS-537-00 UV Light Bulb For Germicidal Water Treatment is a guaranteed water treatment bulb that has a wattage of 21 Watts and a wavelength range of 254nm. This wavelength acts on the genetics of the microorganisms and renders them harmless. The water treatment bulb has ceramic as its base material and an average lifespan of 10,000 hours. The germicidal water treatment bulb has a length of 17.17" and a four-pin on a single end base. It is compatible with germicidal OEM Water sterilization filters, UV sanitizers, and water purifiers.

The lamp makes use of UVC light to inactivate bacteria, molds, virus,es and protozoa present in water. Researchers are of the opinion that UV water purification provides a safe solution as this method of sterilization is a purely physical process and does not alter the pH, chemistry or taste of water. However, if glass breakage would be inconvenient but not catastrophic, skipping the costly shatterproof coating is quite alright. After all, we do not use shatterproof coating with our glasses and plates at home.
