The Wedeco/Ideal Horizons - ME38K20 Water Treatment Germicidal UV Light Bulb is a guaranteed replacement UV bulb that has a wattage of 38 watts and a lamp length of 31.49 inches. The four-pin on a single-end lamp bulb provides you with a worry-free performance for an entire year. The lamp bulb is completely compatible with germicidal OEM Water sterilization filters, UV sanitizers, and water purifiers.

The lamp makes use of UV-C light to inactivate and kill bacteria, molds, viruses, and other pathogens present in water. Researchers are of the opinion that UV water purification provides a safe solution as this method of sterilization is a purely physical process and does not alter the pH, chemistry, or taste of water. This method is both economically and environmentally friendly and is a much better option for chemicals and their bi-products. People are of the opinion that this system provides a safe solution against microorganisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium, that are resistant to chlorine disinfection.

However, if glass breakage would be inconvenient but not catastrophic, skipping the costly shatterproof coating is quite alright. After all, we do not use shatterproof coating with our glasses and plates at home.
